Right now, we have our DreamHost infrastructure donated by ilikenwf (thanks again!), but we don't have a coordinated way of recovering if they fail. I'd be willing to dump and store databases once a month or so, so we can restore stuff even if DreamHost-Backups should not be available. Imho it would be good if I wouldn't be the only one.
Two main questions: 1. Would the dev community agree with me (and/or others) doing and storing backups on a regular basis?
2. On the technical side, which parts should I include in such a backup?
We didn't yet exchange PGP keys or similar measures through our current, authenticated channels. Imho we should do that, so that we can directly communicate about the more critical stuff such as server passwords, logs involving user emails, etc., if necessary. In the long run, I'd also like to have signed releases and discuss related stuff…
